Dear Mount Vernon Parents/Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you well. As we continually strive to enhance communication between Mount Vernon City Schools and our valued parents, we would like to bring to your attention some important updates regarding our library book check-out procedures.

Currently, we allow students to select books of interest from their building library.  Once a book is checked out, parents are notified by email of their child's selection including Title and Author.  If you feel comfortable with the current checkout procedures that we have used for many years then you don't need to do anything.

We recognize that there may be some Parents/Guardians who would like to be notified and approve their child's selection prior to checking out a book.  We believe we can accommodate your wishes by completing the permission notification form #1 attached to this email and located on the district website.

Additionally, we recognize that some students often demonstrate more mature reading abilities and interests. If you believe your child fits into this category, as a Parent/Guardian you can grant permission to allow your child the opportunity to check out books that may be more mature in terms of interest and reading abilities.  We believe we can accommodate your wishes by completing the permission notification form #2 attached to this email and located on the district website.

Return the completed form(s) to your school office.  Your cooperation is invaluable in tailoring our resources to meet individual student needs and your responses will be handled confidentially.
