Build Into Community
I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the administration and staff of Mount Vernon High School, to welcome you to what we hope is an exciting year at MVHS. One of the common statements that resonates when you talk to parents and community members about Mount Vernon is the feel of home and having a welcoming and safe environment to raise a family. Our hope is that broad view can be a snapshot of what students will experience at Mount Vernon High School.
While expectations for each student will be similar, the experiences will not. We are individuals and will have different perspectives and reactions at various points throughout the year. Our goal is that those reactions are positive and we can truly work as a staff to reach each individual student at their level and offer opportunities and experiences to facilitate growth as a student and positive relationships to be enjoyed throughout high school and beyond.
Our building focus for the 2016-17 year will be Build into Community. We want our students to have ownership of the environment that is created at MVHS. While striving for excellence in academics will always be at the forefront of our responsibility to the students and community, fostering community through activities and relationships will also be an important piece of that academic success. We will be working diligently to find programming and opportunities for growth that fit the needs of each and every student. We truly value the partnership between our parents and community in making a building a community within itself.
We are looking forward to the year ahead.

Mount Vernon GPS Digital Academy
Mount Vernon High School now offers a non-traditional pathway to graduation.  In the spring of 2016 a pilot program has now expanded into the Mount Vernon GPS Digital Academy.  Participation in this program will allow the opportunity for students to work in a non-traditional setting in their pursuit of their high school education.  Students will work through the APEX Digital Learning platform which is aligned to Ohio's Learning Standards under the facilitation of licensed faculty and support staff.  Our Digital Academy is also NCAA approved.  Success Plans, Learning Coach Mentorship as well as setting educational goals and developing skills in pursuit of college and career endeavors will be standard components of this program.  Our goal is to offer students an alternative educational option that will allow them to enjoy success in their educational journey and more importantly, an individualized educational experience.
