Second Grade Music

In Second Grade students sing folk songs from a variety of cultures, dance, play games and continue to develop their music reading/literacy skills with symbols such as quarter note, eighth note, half note and rest.  They become proficient at reading simple melodies on the staff (staff notation). Students continue to develop the ability to sing in tune while accompanying themselves on classroom instruments like drums and xylophones.  They perform in a school concert held in the spring.
