February Board of Education Meeting

The Mount Vernon Board Of Education conducted its February meeting at Twin Oak Elementary Commons.  Twin Oak Music Teacher, Laura Ackert gave a presentation entitled:  “From Appalachia to Africa,” demonstrating how the use of drums and dulcimers in the music classroom can enhance instruction and bring music to life.  Video position 10:00 - 17:03

Emily Miller, MVMS Math teacher/Robotics Coach with her students, introduced their robots and demonstrated the abilities of their robots during a competition.  Video position 17:55 - 45:05

Principal, Sue Miller recognized Tessa Hall, classroom volunteer and PTO President, as Twin Oak's “Behind the Scenes” Person.

The Board approved the substitute teacher pay rates for the 2020-2021 school year, $92.50 a day, and $97.50 a day for substitutes teachers working the same assignment between 11 to 60 days.  An agreement with Mental Health and Recovery for Licking and Knox Counties, an appropriation of a $40,000 safety grant that was applied for by Rick Shaffer, maintenance supervisor, and the College Credit Plus Partnership Agreement with Kenyon College were also approved during Monday's meeting.

 The Board received a Treasurer’s Report from Gary Hankins and recognized several donations.

The next Board of Education meeting will be on March 16 at 6:00 PM at the Board of Education Office.
