MVHS Students Recognized for the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program

Mount Vernon High School students, Noah Shremshock, Aidan Clarkson, Olivia Matulich, Amanda Miglin and Conrad Stein have been recognized for their achievement in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Noah Shremshock has joined an elite group of students nationwide as one of 16,000 students designated as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.  Noah will have the opportunity to compete for the possibility of earning one of 7,500 scholarships totalling more than $32 million that will be awarded this coming spring.  

Aidan, Olivia, Amanda and Conrad are included in the representation of 34,000 students throughout the nation being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for the National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  As stated by a spokesperson for NMSC, "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.  We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."  MVHS is very proud of their accomplishments and their representation of their families, community and school.
