Members of the Mount Vernon FFA Chapter were part of over 74 Ohio Farm Bureau Youth, FCCLA  members and FFA members and advisors who recently attended Ohio Leadership Camp held in Carrollton, Ohio at FFA Camp Muskingum.

The students were able to attend the camp through a scholarship sponsored by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, Inc. and Nationwide Insurance both of Columbus. The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and Nationwide Insurance has been a sponsor of the Ohio FFA for 59 consecutive years.

On hand to present the scholarships were Bethany Starlin, Vice President is the Ohio FFA Association and Melinda Witten, Senior Director of Leadership Development for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. While at camp, the FFA members took part in leadership training sessions, which were conducted by National FFA Leadership Development staff. Through various activities all campers experienced the importance of leadership, teamwork, and diversity in a group setting. This was enhanced by the camper’s participation in FFA Camp Muskingum’s Co-Initiative Course and a Living History program that simulated the challenges of life on the Underground Railroad.

Mt. Vernon FFA members were able to attend in part through a generous donation from Knox County Farm Bureau.

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
