MVHS Big Sibs...Big Impact

According to Big Sib's advisor Christine Keaton, the sixteen seniors and juniors who make up the Big Sibs of MVHS fit Maya Angelou’s definition of hero. Maya Angelou defines a hero as "any person really intent on making this a better place for all people." The high school students truly have a passion to serve their Little Sibs at the middle school, providing support in a wide variety of ways. Big Sibs meet each week during the school year to mentor, listen, and encourage their Little Sibs to be well socially, academically, and emotionally.Big and Little Sib's enjoying lunch.

Thursday, December 16, the Big and Little Sibs from Mount Vernon High School and Mount Vernon Middle School traveled to Heath, Ohio, for a whole group activity to celebrate their program and the relationships they have built. It will also serve as a way to deepen their relationships to anchor the remainder of the school year. Both Big and Little Sibs were able to enjoy a day at Altitude Trampoline Park with a follow-up meal at Massey's restaurant. As a special bonus, the Little Sibs participated in a Christmas gift exchange provided for them by the Big Sibs.

According to Keaton, funds provided for the day came from an Aerial Foundation grant.
