Reopening Schools with a school bus in the background. Restart Update July 31 2020
Over the past three weeks, the Restart committees have been working diligently to address the many challenges associated with having all students return to school five days a week.  We have regularly met with local health officials to review new and updated school guidance and recommendations.  As Covid-19 cases continue to increase both statewide and locally, the uncertainty of what another week may bring, makes planning incredibly challenging and unsettling.  Read... Mount Vernon City Schools is offering a complete digital platform option for district families during this current point in the ongoing COVID 19 Pandemic.  The Mount Vernon Digital Academy is facilitated by MVCSD teachers.  Students will have an individual teacher facilitator for this digital platform.  The following link is the application for the Mount Vernon Digital Academy.

The 2020 Ohio sales tax holiday will begin Friday, August 7th at 12:01 a.m. and lasts until Sunday, August 9th at 11:59 p.m.  The following items are exempt from sales tax during the holiday:
  • Clothing priced at $75 per item or less;
  • School supplies priced at $20 per item or less; and
  • School instructional materials priced at $20 per item or less
School Supply Lists - will be posted on your student’s school building website.

Key Club and NHS are partnering for our annual August drive, and like last year, Tyler McCann, owner of Round Hill Dairy is partnering with us. If you GIVE a pint, you GET a pint (of their delicious ice cream!)  Consider donating blood on TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, from 12-6:00 PM. Visit to sign up.

Summer Lunch Poster MV Schools Summer Lunch Program
Mount Vernon City Schools Food Service summer lunch program started June 2 and will be serving lunches Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.  Lunch locations will be Dan Emmett, Pleasant Street, Wiggin Street, The Learning Center, and Mount Vernon High School.  Breakfasts and Lunches will be served.  For the past 20 years, MVCSD food service staff has had the pleasure of providing nutritious lunches to the children of Mount Vernon.

Due to the COVID 19 situation, the Kindergarten registration process has changed for the 2020-2021 school year.   The home attendance area building will now call parents to schedule an appointment during the summer months.  Registration appointments will begin in August.

Ohio Department of Medicaid Logo Ohio Medicaid School Program Annual Notice
The Mt Vernon City School District has the opportunity to receive  Federal Medicaid dollars through a program called the Ohio Medicaid  School Program (MSP). Through this program, school districts can receive  Medicaid dollars for services such as Speech, Audiology, Physical  Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, and  Social Work services.  Read More... for program details.
