Orchestra Award

The Orchestra Award is given to Middle School students that have committed to learning about music and their instrument.

Orchestra Varsity Letter

Varsity Letter and Pin
High School students that earn 6 varsity points will receive the Orchestra Varsity Letter. Varsity points are earned through excellence in the classroom and participation in extra-curricular events.
  • Quarterly Grade: 1/2 point for an "A" or 1/4 point for "A-"
  • Section Leader: 1/4 point for averaging a 95% or higher on quarterly playing quizzes
  • Solo & Ensemble: 1 point for a "Superior" rating or 1/2 point for an "Excellent" rating
  • Youth Orchestra: 1 point for a full year of participation
  • Region Orchestra: 1 point for being selected and performing with the group
  • All-State Orchestra: 1 point for being selected and performing with the group
  • Jazz Band: 1 point for a full year of participation
  • Chamber Orchestra: 1/2 point for attending rehearsals and performing at both the recital and S&E
  • Pit Orchestra: 1/2 point for rehearsing and performing in the pit of a musical
  • Christmas Walk: 1/2 point for performing in a small ensemble
  • Music Buddy: 1/4 point

National School Orchestra Award
The National School Orchestra Award honors the top senior in the high school orchestra and recognizes excellence in playing and contributions to the orchestral ensemble. This prestigious honor may only be given to one student per school-year.
