Students discussing their writing at the Creative Writing Workshop. Creative Writing Workshops Offered
This fall, the Kenyon Review is teaming up with Paragraphs Bookstore and the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County to offer free weekly creative writing workshops to elementary, middle, and high school students. Workshops are led by Kenyon College students and provide a fun, creative, and supportive setting for kids to develop their writing skills.  Read more... for program details. 
FFA Forestry Team FFA Fourth in County Forestry Contest
The Mount Vernon FFA placed 4th in the Knox County Forestry Contest on September 10. The top three individual scores that determined team placing were:  first place, Alyse Ladig, second place, Anna Patterson, and Erin Combs with third.  Read more...  for details and team picture. 
Spencer Riffle with his trombone. Riffle Selected For All-State Band
Spencer Riffle, senior trombonist, was selected for the Ohio Music Education Association All-State Band. He is one of only nine trombonists in the state of Ohio accepted to this ensemble. He will perform with other elite musicians from the across Ohio, at the OMEA Professional Development Conference in Cincinnati on Friday, January 31. Congratulations Spencer!

Ohio Department of Medicaid Logo Ohio Medicaid School Program Annual Notice
The Mt Vernon City School District has the opportunity to receive  Federal Medicaid dollars through a program called the Ohio Medicaid  School Program (MSP). Through this program, school districts can receive  Medicaid dollars for services such as Speech, Audiology, Physical  Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, and  Social Work services.  Read More... for program details.
